Spatulas, Surgical, Eye, Intraocular Lens Implant

Definition : Spatulas designed to manipulate and/or dissect eye tissue during implantation of intraocular lenses or to manipulate the intraocular lens during placement. These devices typically consist of a metallic (e.g., stainless steel) handheld instrument with a straight or curved very thin, flat, blunt distal tip. Intraocular lens implant spatulas sometimes have small notches on the spatula for manipulating the intraocular lens. Surgical eye spatulas for intraocular lens implantation are typically used during ophthalmic surgery for the implantation of an intraocular lens after cataract removal or other refractive surgery.
