Definition : Spatulas designed to manipulate and/or dissect abdominal or intestinal tissue during surgical procedures. These devices typically consist of a metallic (e.g., stainless steel) handheld instrument with a straight or curved very thin, flat, blunt distal tip. They come in various sizes and some may have a working tip at each end. The working end is usually rounded to manipulate tissues in the abdomen or intestines without damaging the tissues. Intestinal surgical spatulas are used to manipulate and/or dissect intestinal tissue during surgical procedures.
