Definition : Carts designed for storing and local transport of devices, instruments, and materials used in dental treatments, providing clear display and ready access to all items. These carts typically consist of stand-alone multiple-drawer, -shelf, or -shelf/drawer structure with an adjustable height working surface (e.g., the top of the cart) appropriate for use while performing dental treatments and sometimes other dental procedures; the structure is mounted on medium (e.g., typically 7.5 cm/3 in) wheels that are usually an integral part of the cart. The working top is typically appropriate for placement of drugs, instruments, vials, or other small devices, attachments for handpieces, a high volume evacuator, irrigation, and a saliva ejector; some also include built-in grounded outlets, and security locks.
