Definition : Postmortem knives designed for dissection of organ and tissues during autopsy. These knives typically consist of handheld, manual instruments with a handle at the proximal end and an integral sharp cutting blade at the distal end. Dedicated dissecting postmortem knives intended for general autopsy and/or for particular dissection of the lung, cartilage, brain, and trimming dissections are also available.
