Definition : Dental knives designed to cut dental prosthetic materials. These knives typically consist of handheld, manual instruments with a handle and an integral strong cutting blade at the distal end. These knives are available in a variety of blade shapes and sizes according to the material to be cut or trimmed. Dedicated prosthodontic knives are mainly used in dental laboratories and they are also available for cutting and/or trimming plaster products (i.e., gypsum) or compound materials including plastics compounds and wax.
