Reagents, Molecular Assay, Gene Disorder, Trinucleotide Repeats, CTG
Definition : Molecular assay reagents intended to identify the number of copies of a CTG trinucleotide repeat in a gene's DNA. A variation from the expected number of normal CTG trinucleotide repeats produces altered DNA and improper gene functioning, resulting in full mutation. CTG trinucleotide repeats in specific genes are related to particular diseases, including dystrophia myotonica (Steinert's disease).
