Definition : Plain (nonimpregnated) dressings made of materials derived from natural fibers. These dressings are usually nonadhesive, made of one or more fibers, including cotton and alginate. Natural fiber dressings are intended to absorb wound exudates and maintain a moist environment; they are used mainly in wound management.
