IVD Test Reagent/Kits, Molecular Assay, Gene Anomaly, Mutation, HAMP

Definition : Molecular assay reagents intended to identify mutations in the hepcidin antimicrobial peptide (HAMP) gene, located at chromosome 19q13.1, which is involved in the production of hepcidin protein. Hepcidin protein plays a role in maintaining iron balance in the body. Mutations at this locus have been identified in patients with early-onset adult (juvenile) hemochromatosis.
