Retainers, Dental, Orthodontic, Fixed

Definition : Orthodontic retainers, that cannot be easily removed by the patient, designed to hold teeth in place during the period of functional adaptation while surrounding gingival tissue (i.e., gums) and bone adjust to a new position following corrective orthodontic treatment. These retainers typically consist of metallic wires attached to the lower incisors; they are intended to prevent reversal of the substantial modifications in tooth position (e.g., great modifications in bite) gained by orthopedic procedures.

Flud Dental Laboratory

Company Type: Parent

Dentistry and dental laboratory technology have changed significantly since Flud Laboratory was opened in 1955. In those first few years we were mostly an "acrylic" lab repairing and relining dentures, or setting teeth for a new set of "plates." These days Flud fabricates everything from titanium dental implant abutments to zirconia bridges, while maintaining our reputation as a leading removable prosthetics laboratory.
