Auxiliary Displays, Physiologic Monitor
Definition : Auxiliary displays designed to provide access to displays of monitored data (e.g., numeric, waveforms) that is usually identical to information provided in the central station. These displays typically consist of an electronic screen that interacts with physiologic monitors or physiologic monitoring systems and shows the parameters and/or waveforms in real time; some devices may also display the alarm status of the physiologic monitors. Physiologic monitoring auxiliary displays are usually placed in hallways or multipatient rooms, providing healthcare staff ready access to patient alarm information. Some displays may be available as components of physiologic monitoring system, facilitating their installation and support. Interactive auxiliary displays that permit input from clinicians (e.g., adjusting or inactivating settings) and noninteractive (i.e., read only) devices are available.
