Saws, Surgical, Amputation
Definition : Surgical saws designed to cut bone and other hard tissue during total or partial amputation procedures of the extremities. Dedicated amputation saws are usually handheld, manual instruments with a sturdy metal structure including a handle and a detachable or integral wide, serrated blade. Amputation surgical saws are used mainly to cut bone with minimal damage to the surrounding tissue; electric and pneumatic saws designed to cut bones during surgical procedures may be also used for amputation.
