Definition : Molecular assay reagents intended to identify Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a DNA virus of the family Herpesviridae, by detecting the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) of the target virus. EBV may cause infectious mononucleosis and is closely associated with malignant diseases such as Burkitt's lymphoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
