Definition : Serology reagents intended to detect immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies to species of Brucella, a genus of nonmotile bacteria of uncertain family affiliation. Brucella bacteria of several species (e.g., B. abortus, B. suis) are pathologic in humans, causing brucellosis, a disease characterized by intermittent (i.e., undulant) fever.
