Reagents, Microbiology, Bacteria, Identification, Listeria Species
Definition : Microbiology reagents intended to identify species of Listeria, a genus of bacteria closely resemble bacteria of the family Corynebacteriaceae, by detecting the target bacteria, usually through tests performed on bacteria cultures. A species of these bacteria (i.e., Listeria monocytogenes) is the cause of listeriosis and in utero infections; infections acquired during birth cause cardiorespiratory distress, diarrhea, vomiting, and meningitis. Infection in adults produces meningitis, endocarditis, and disseminated granulomatous lesions.
