Definition : Molecular assay reagents intended to identify Ehrlichia canis, a bacterium of the family Rickettsiaceae, by detecting specific genetic information of the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) of the target bacteria. These bacteria are an etiologic agent of a human disease with symptoms similar to spotted fever (these bacteria are also the etiologic agent of canine ehrlichiosis).
