Definition : Molecular assay reagents intended to identify species of Ehrlichia, a genus of bacteria of the family Rickettsiaceae, by detecting specific nucleic-acid information of the target bacteria. Some species of these bacteria are etiologic agents of monocytic ehrlichiosis in humans (i.e., they attack monocytes, a type of white blood cell).
