Reagents, Molecular Assay, Infection, Bacteria, Brucella Species, DNA
Definition : Molecular assay reagents intended to identify species of Brucella, a genus of nonmotile coccobacillus bacteria of uncertain family affiliation, by detecting specific genetic information of the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) of the target bacteria. Some species of these bacteria are the etiologic agent of brucellosis, a disease characterized by intermittant (i.e. undulant) fever; they may also cause respiratory tract infections in humans.
