Curettes, Dental

Definition : Curettes designed to remove tissue and/or materials from the teeth and/or adjacent tissue during dental procedures. These curettes are typically handheld, manual instruments with a working end that resembles a solid or ring-like spoon, with sharp or blunt edges and a handle at the other end. Dedicated dental curettes are available for endodontic (e.g., root canal) procedures, for excising tissues (i.e., periodontic) around the teeth, and for removal of subgingival calculi (i.e., scaling).
