Clips, Umbilical Cord Occlusion
Definition : Clips designed for external occlusion of the umbilical cord of a newborn. These clips are typically small (usually metallic) instruments with two blades that are closed to compress the vasculature of the umbilical cord. Umbilical cord clips are disposable (i.e., single-use) devices; they may be manually delivered and discarded or self-discarded after healing.
