Brushes, Cleaning, Instrument, Endoscope, Channel

Definition : Endoscope cleaning brushes designed to remove debris from endoscope channels (e.g., biopsy, suction). These brushes typically include a long (e.g., 48 to 96 inch, 120 to 240 cm,) flexible plastic (e.g., polypropylene), textured shaft with bristles (e.g., nylon) radiating from the shaft at one or both ends; they may include a soft, ball tip (to avoid damage to the endoscope) and round plastic handles. Some brushes have tiered or tapered bristles to adapt to most standard endoscope channel sizes. Endoscope channel cleaning brushes are available in several diameters and lengths, according to the channel size of the particular endoscope (e.g., cystoscope, gastroscope) to be cleaned, some endoscopes require different channel brushes for water/air channels and suction/biopsy channels. Endoscope channel cleaning brushes may be intended for single use or for reuse after sterilization.
