Definition : Bougies designed for probing and/or dilating the conducts of the ear canal and/or the eustachian tube. These manual, handheld devices are typically hollow metallic or plastic cylinders with a tapered working end. Ear canal/eustachian tube bougies are mainly used during surgical procedures involving the middle ear, the nasal cavity, and/or nasopharynx.
