Definition : Automated equipment designed to process the amino acids in a protein or peptide sample. These processors can perform one or more of a variety of processes on proteins and/or peptides such as determining the order of the amino acids in the sample (i.e., sequencing) and putting protected amino acids together to form proteins or peptides (i.e., synthesizing). Dedicated devices are available for sequencing and synthesizing proteins and/or peptides.
