Decontamination Kits, Skin, Removal/Neutralization Resin
Definition : Skin decontamination kits designed to remove and neutralize liquid chemical agents. These kits typically consist of a set of packets (usually two pockets with three packets each) containing a nonwoven decontamination pad impregnated with a reactive and absorbent black resin. The most commonly used resin is a mixture of a carbonaceous adsorbent, a polystyrene polymeric compound, and an ion-exchange resin. Decontamination is accomplished by opening the packet and scrubbing the skin with the impregnated pad that is both adsorbent and reactive; these kits are not intended for decontamination of wounds or for use near the eyes or mouth.
