These kits typically consist of a sterile package with a lyophilized dry-vaccine vial and a diluent container (e.g., a prefilled syringe), transfer needles for use during liquid-vaccine reconstitution, and bifurcated needles for injection (scarification). Smallpox vaccination kits typically include enough vaccine to inoculate 100 or more individuals and a similar quantity of disposable bifurcated needles.
