Programmer/Testers

Definition : Devices designed for testing and/or changing the characteristics (i.e., programming) of implanted programmable devices. Programmer/testers typically consist of a computerized unit with programming, testing, and recording capabilities that can interact with the stimulator to read information previously stored, perform diagnostic tests, generate printed reports, and/or reprogram the stimulator; they are mostly used to test and/or change the characteristics of implanted electrical stimulators (e.g., pacemakers) and infusion pumps.
