Boards, Arm

Definition : Boards designed to stabilize a patient's arm. Arm boards are typically constructed of hard plastic; they can be straight or curved to accommodate the arm and/or wrist. Arm boards are mostly used to maintain the patency of intravascular catheters such as those connected to an intravenous or intra-arterial line. Some arm boards are used as table (e.g., operating table) extensions (attachments).
