Monitors, Telemetric, Intracranial Pressure
Definition : Telemetric monitors designed for monitoring the pressure and pressure variations inside the cranium; usually they can also measure the pressure in hydrocephalic shunts. These systems typically consist of a pressure sensor including a radiofrequency (RF) passive circuit that is partially or totally implanted; and a central monitor that uses RF waves to obtain information from the sensor. and that have capabilities to consolidate, and display the information from one or several patients. Intracranial telemetric pressure monitors are used in patients after cranial trauma or surgery and for continuous checking of hydrocephaly; they are also used to facilitate the evaluation of malfunction or obstruction in hydrocephaly shunts.
