Definition : Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (e.g., serum) to determine antibodies (termed SS-A or SS-A/ro) to an RNA/protein complex (an extractable nuclear antigen) . Circulating SS-A antibodies are present in autoimmune connective-tissue diseases, particularly in Sjogren's syndrome which is characterized by keratoconjunctivitis and xerostomia.
