Definition : Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (e.g., serum) to determine one or more of a group of substances, such as carbohydrate-deficient transferrin (CDT) and gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT), which are considered markers of long-time high alcohol consumption (i.e., ethanol consumption markers). The sensitivity and specificity of these markers are likely related to patient age, sex, and health conditions they are used as part of a group of tests for screening or monitoring of alcoholism.
