Reagents, Immunoassay, Anemia Test, Serum Transferrin Receptor

Definition : Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (typically serum) to determine the level of serum transferrin receptor (sTfR), a protein associated with the cellular uptake of transferrin iron. Levels of sTfR in serum are considered a sensitive and specific index of iron depletion, as sTfR levels are raised in iron deficiency anemia but not in chronic inflammatory diseases. They may be used also to differentiate between both causes of anemia.

Entry Terms : "Transferrin Receptor Determination Reagents, Serum" , "TfR (Serum Transferrin Receptor) Determination Reagents" , "Serum Transferrin Receptor (sTfR) Determination Reagentss"
