Definition : Endoscopes designed for insertion through a hole in the skull into one of the cavities of the brain for visual examination, biopsy, and treatment of lesions of the brain, especially during surgical procedures. Encephaloscopes usually consist of an outer sheath, a lighting system, and a working channel for catheters and operative devices
