Reagents, Immunoassay, Renal Metabolism, Renin, Plasma Renin Activity
Definition : Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (e.g., serum) to determine plasma renin in terms of its enzymatic activity, known as plasma renin activity (PRA). PRA is evaluated according to the generation of angiotensin I. Renin activity is increased during salt-losing nephropathies, renin-secreting tumors, and adrenocortical insufficiency. Low levels are associated with adrenal carcinomas and primary aldosteronism.
