Reagents, Immunoassay, Pregnancy Protein, Pregnancy Specific Beta-1-Glycoprotein
Definition : Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (e.g., serum) to determine the pregnancy specific beta-1-glycoprotein (SP-1 or PSG-1), also known as Schwangerschaft's protein 1. SP-1 levels in maternal serum are elevated in the second trimester of trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) pregnancies, in degenerated or abnormal development of fertilized ova (i.e., molar pregnancy), and in other abnormal pregnancies.
