Reagents, Immunoassay, Fertility Hormone, 17-Hydroxyprogesterone
Definition : Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (e.g., serum saliva, whole blood) to determine 17-hydroxyprogesterone, a precursor of cortisol and aldosterone. Determination of the levels of 17-hydroxyprogesterone are useful in the evaluation of women with infertility and/or excessive growth of terminal hair (hirsutism). Measurements in plasma are also used for the diagnosis and monitoring of therapy of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) in newborns.
