Definition : Hematology reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample to determine plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1), a member of the family of serine protease inhibitors (serpins). PAI-1 can inhibit the activity of urokinase and tissue plasminogen activators; it can be isolated from vascular endothelium, platelets, and other tissues.
