Definition : Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analysis on a body fluid sample (typically serum, but also urine) to determine light chain (either kappa or lambda) fragments of monoclonal immunoglobulins. The presence of light chain Ig in serum is used to diagnose some malignant neoplasms such as multiple myeloma, plasmacytoma, and amyloid disease.
