Reagents, Immunoassay, Protein, Fibronectin

Definition : Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses of body fluids (e.g., plasma, cervicovaginal exudates) to determine fibronectin, an adhesive glycoprotein that circulates in plasma and is present in many cell surfaces. Fibronectin is related to the aggregation of platelets. Fibronectin levels are decreased in hepatocellular diseases; low levels in plasma of chronic diabetic patients are associated with hyperglycemia complications. The presence of cervicovaginal fetal fibronectin in pregnant women is associated with an increased risk of preterm delivery. The presence of the oncofetal isoform of fibronectin from neoplastic tissues is a marker for angiogenesis, such as in intracranial meningiomas.

The Binding Site Inc

At Binding Site we constantly strive to improve the tools available to laboratory professionals around the world for diagnosing and monitoring disease. Our origins date back to a group of researchers within the Medical School of Birmingham University who first started looking at innovative ways of producing antibodies in the early 1970's. With a desire to continue this early work but lacking the required government funding they founded a private company to take the research forward and utilise any potential commercial benefits. That company has evolved into The Binding Site and for over 25 years we have specialised in producing highly sensitive and highly specific antibodies used for the detection of certain cancers and other serious disorders.
