Definition : Serology reagents intended to detect and/or identify antigens or serum antibody titers to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), an enveloped RNA species of the genus Pneumovirus, family Paramyxovirus. Several types of RSV are etiologic agents of lower respiratory tract infections; they are the most common cause of bronchiolitis and pneumonia among infants.
