Definition : Clinical chemistry reagents used to perform tests in a sample of whole blood in a short period of time, typically several minutes (i.e., rapid tests). Frequently, these reagents are impregnated in one or more areas of a paper strip (reagent strip) that undergo a color change when reacted with specific substances. They are typically used to determine cholesterol, glucose, and/or lactate.
