Definition : Clinical chemistry reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative chemical analysis of body fluids (typically plasma) to determine the level of phospholipids, the major part of pulmonary surfactant lipids; phospholipids are composed mostly of lecithin (phosphatidylcholine). Determination of total phospholipids in serum is of very limited clinical use.
