Definition : Clinical chemistry reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative chemical analysis of body fluids (typically plasma or serum) to measure the level of fatty acid in plasma not bound to lipid esters (free fatty acids [FFAs]). A high level of FFA in blood has been found in diabetic patients under acute stress; it is also associated with arrhythmias in patients who have suffered a myocardial infarction.
