Definition : Clinical chemistry reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative chemical analyses of body fluids (typically serum) to determine the level of the creatine kinase muscle-brain (MB) isoenzyme; this isoenzyme is typically measured indirectly (i.e., the MB isoenzyme activity). Creatine kinase MB isoenzyme activity increases in response to severe muscle injury or necrosis, cardiac infarction, and other cardiac trauma, including surgery.
