Modular Medical Facilities, Stationary
Definition : Modular medical facilities designed to be transported completely (or at least to a substantial degree) assembled from the manufacturer's premises to the final destination. Most stationary medical facilities are permanently located, but it is usually possible to relocate the facility if needed. Stationary modular medical facilities could need external connections (e.g., electricity, water). These facilities are used for servicing distant or rural areas, for screening purposes (e.g., tuberculosis), for adding new capabilities to an existing hospital (e.g., magnetic resonnance imaging, catscan), and for adding a new procedure or increasing the existing medical capabilities permanently or for long periods (e.g., several months) in a given location .
