Definition : Heartbeat cardiac simulators that include a floating platform which mimics the epicardial surface. A coronary artery representative (e.g., a porcine mammary artery) is mounted on the platform, while a motor underneath the platform, carrying projection wheels intermittently elevates the platform simulating heartbeats. These simulators are used to train surgeons for coronary surgery on beating hearts.
