Definition : Radiation shields that usually consist of a lead cylinder, sometimes with a lead-glass window, in which vials containing radioisotopes are enclosed. These shields may include a lead-glass window for viewing the liquid level in the vial and an opening in the cover for the insertion of a syringe to withdraw the radioisotope.
