Occlusal Splints

Definition : Intraoral devices designed to tightly overlay the occlusal surfaces of the upper or lower arch of the teeth (i.e., occlusal splints). These splints usually consist of custom-designed soft or semi-rigid devices that are made of plastic or cured acrylic resins. Dedicated occlusal splints intended for dental treatment and management of mandibular positioning, and/or for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea and snoring are available.
