Definition : Dental appliances intended to be used in the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Dental airway orthoses, commonly referred to as tongue-retaining devices, are made of polymeric material and are attached to the upper teeth. The device advances the tongue and mandible forward, thereby increasing the size of the upper airway and increasing airflow.
