Definition : Temporary shoulder joint components designed for use during shoulder joint reconstruction procedures to determine/confirm proper sizing and positioning of the permanent/definitive shoulder prosthesis. These devices are designed to be temporarily inserted and/or attached, and then are removed from the surgical site so that the permanent implants can be placed. Trial prostheses for the humeral head and glenoid components are typically used during shoulder arthroplasty.
