Baths, Water, Molded Plastic Splint

Definition : Water baths designed to conform plastic moldable splints. These baths typically consist of a temperature controlled pan, electrical resistors, a thermometer, temperature controllers, and a timer. Some units include a pump to empty the pan. Temperature is usually adjustable from room temperature to 100 degrees Celsius (212 Fahrenheit). Sheets of thermoplastic materials are introduced into the pan with the temperature adjusted according to the material and then molded to conform the desired splint.
