Definition : Microbiology reagents used to detect and/or identify one or more of the species of the genus Trichomonas, especially the species Trichomonas vaginalis that parasitize the human reproductive system. Trichomonas vaginalis is the only known pathological species, causing a profuse vaginal discharge in women; in men, infection is usually asymptomatic.
